The book Engineering and Society is a book written in two parts: Part I was written by C. R. Young, and Part II, subtitled "Economic Development in Canada," was written by H. A. Innis and J. H. Dales. It was published in 1946. It is a textbook intended for first-year University students. While not specifically transport-related, the book does touch on railway engineering and other transport-related topics.

Only a portion of the book is reproduced here; the portions of the book authored or co-authored by J. H. Dales are omitted as they are still in copyright in Canada.
