Mail Train Robbed
Dowagiac, Mich., Nov. 30th.—Mail valued anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000 was stolen from an eastbound Michigan Central train near this station at an early hour Friday morning.
The first inkling of the robbery came to the authorities yesterday, when a suitcase with many opened letters was found in an alley. Detectives were sent out and found the letters directed to various banks in Michigan, evidence pointing that each contained drafts for big amounts. Postmarks on the envelopes indicated that the letters were mailed Friday. No other clues besides the suitcase have been found.
