The secretary of the Winnipeg General Hospital acknowledges with thanks the receipt of a cheque for $150 from Hon. Donald A. Smith, being a donation to the funds of the above institution in addition to his annual subscription of $50.

The steamer Colville arrived at the Lower Fort from Grand Rapids on Tuesday evening. Among the passengers were Chief Commissioner Grahame, of the Hudson's Bay Company, who has been on an extended business tour through the North-West, and Mr. John F. Bain, who made the trip with Mr. Grahame for the benefit of his health. We are glad to be able to say that Mr. Bain's health has greatly improved while eaway, but, unfortunately, while crossing Lake Winnipeg he contracted a severe cold which will detain him at the Lower Fort for a few days.
