A Mighty Locomotive. This powerful engine was built by Messrs. Baldwin for heavy traffic on the Erie Railway. Its total weight is 853,050 lbs. or more than 380 tons. It is of the 2-8-8-8-2 type, that is each of the three sets of eight-driving wheels is coupled together. From The Romance of Modern Locomotion by Archibald Williams, page 40.
